Turn a branching story into a playable Ren'Py visual novel without building the whole project in code.

Playhouse gives writers and illustrators one visual workspace for the parts that usually get scattered across scripts, folders, and checklists.

• Map scenes, choices, conditions, shared routes, and endings.
• Write dialogue while staging backgrounds, characters, music, animation, and transitions.
• Design the title screen and core player menus.
• Preview scenes inside Playhouse, then run the generated game in Ren'Py.
• Check routes and endings before you package the project.
• Track missing backgrounds and character art without blocking the writing flow.

Built for ownership

Your project stays on your computer. There is no required account, subscription, or cloud service. Playhouse generates ordinary Ren'Py project output, so the finished game is not trapped inside a hosted editor.

What you need

• macOS 11 or later, or Windows 10/11
• A separately downloaded Ren'Py SDK

The Mac download is a signed, notarized universal app for Apple silicon and Intel Macs. The Windows download is an unsigned installer and may show a Microsoft Defender SmartScreen reputation warning.

Playhouse itself is ready to install; games you export are release inputs. You remain responsible for signing, notarizing, rating, and publishing your own game.

Early release scope

Playhouse is aimed at new conventional 2D visual novels. It does not currently import an existing .rpy project or round-trip hand edits made to generated scripts. Advanced localization, collaboration, voice production, Live2D, and full Ren'Py feature coverage are not part of this first release.
